TAIJIQUAN AT MONTREAL
What is TAIJIQUAN?
Taijiquan (also known as Qi-Gong and Tai-Chi) is a practice that is rooted in the rich Chinese traditions of holistic medicine and martial arts. It is now recognized worldwide for its exceptional physical and mental health benefits. With its dedication to harmony through gentle, mindful movement, this practice helps to
- reconnect with your body and improve mobility, coordination, and balance
- release tensions, increases vitality, and stretch the fascia (connective tissue important for the nervous system)
- increase concentration and memory, while calming the mind
The style : Hunyuan Taijiquan
The style of Taichi that we practice at Surya World originates from Hunyuan Taijiquan and is further complemented by the research of Stéphane Chollet. The practice can be described with the image of a tree:
Wuji, a standing posture, allows us to center ourselves and to accumulate energy like roots.
QiGong represents the trunk, permitting the circulation of energy in the center of the body.
SanXiJing, the branches, loosens the body and fascias through spiral movements.
Taijiquan is the application as a martial art form and represents the leaves and the flower.
